Welcome to my personal website. I am professor of Digital Linguistics with a focus on Big Data at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg.
Previously, I worked as a junior research group leader at the Center for Scalable Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence at TU Dresden, as a staff scientist in the Multimodal Language Department at the Max-Planck-Institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen and before that in English Linguistics at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, where I obtained my PhD and my Habilitation. I was interim professor of Computational Linguistics and Cognitive Science at the University of Osnabrück and of English Linguistics (synchronic and diachronic) at the University of Leipzig.
My main research interests are in the areas of cognitive linguistics, esp. Construction Grammar, collo-phenomena (collocation, collostruction), computational and corpus linguistics, and lexicography. I have a particular interest in using very large multimodal datasets, data science methods and machine learning for my research, and also in creating relevant research infrastructures and open datasets. Feel free to browse the relevant pages for more information on my activities.
